Blue-collar pitcher, white-collar pitcher?

Yet another article today about a blue-collar outing by Josh Fogg in today's DenverPost. Can someone tell me what pitcher on the staff would throw a white-collar game? What exactly are we comparing this to guys?

Extra credit goes to whoever can tell me how many times the phrase "blue-collar" has been used in the articles about games Josh Fogg pitched in this year.

"Blue-collar" is like "scrappy." It's a way that white announcers who were adequate or worse in their playing days, can describe today's white, sub-par players. You will never, ever, hear a black or Latino player referred to as "blue collar" or "scrappy."

I believe I've heard several references to Jose Reyes this year and his "scrappy" play.
